As we reflect on 2024, we’re filled with gratitude and excitement! From unique custom designs to innovative features, 2024 has been a year of pushing boundaries, both in our craft and in the tiny home movement. But above all, it’s been a year of making real dreams come true for the people who trust us to build their perfect little home. Whether it’s the simplicity of a smaller footprint or the joy of creating a space that truly reflects who they are, we’ve had the privilege of being part of some incredible journeys this year. Join us as we look back at our top 5 favorite builds of this year and why.
KOOTENAY URBAN FARMHOUSE
This Modern Farmhouse Kootenay was designed and built as a one-of-a-kind inventory model. With just 2-3 inventory homes created each year, our designer has the freedom to bring her creative ideas to life, blending functionality with design.
The kitchen features soft gray cabinets with custom brass handles, paired with eco-friendly Thinscape countertops. A West Elm sofa sits on custom white oak drawers built here at Tru Form, and all of the white oak cabinets throughout have soft-close hardware. The kitchen also has a full pull-out pantry.
The downstairs bedroom features a sleek frosted glass and black steel door, along with a hydraulic storage bed and closets on either side (with the option to add a hanging rod). There is also a large loft with storage. The bathroom has a stunning marble tile alcove, custom tiled floors, and a handmade marble sconce from an etsy seller.
Above the toilet, an Anthropologie black arched cabinet adds charm, while the handcrafted concrete sink adds an industrial touch. Brass and black accents throughout the fixtures bring a refined, sophisticated feel to the space. We absolutely LOVED this bathroom.
All appliances we’re included such as the dishwasher, washer/dryer combo, full-size fridge with split freezer drawers, Furrion 3-burner range, accessory sink, and a custom hood vent. The fireplace burns TerraFlame clean fuel for that real flame vibe, with just enough heat inside a tiled fireplace.
CUSTOM URBAN PARK MAX
This home is now in Vermont! The exterior has a beautiful Authentic Cypress Shou Sugi Ban siding, complemented by a roof reinforced to withstand heavy snow loads. A full walk-in closet, large shower, 3 sleeping spaces upstairs, a wood burning stove, and so much more! This home really packs a TON into 37×10.5 ft!
The spacious downstairs area combines a large kitchen and living room, showcasing Tru Form built cabinetry, acacia butcher block countertops, upper open shelving, and a 30″ sink with an integrated drying rack and cutting board. A fun upgrade our client added is a touch-to-open fridge and the Samsung 30″ induction cooktop with WiFi and Virtual Flame technology. This was definitely a very luxurious build.
The bathroom was packed with modern amenities, including a stylish vanity, washer and dryer, ample storage, and two pull-out laundry cabinets. Upstairs, the loft houses three beds: two cozy spaces perfect for children, each with its own storage cubby, and on the other side of a wall for privacy, a queen bed with additional storage for mom and dad.
Since the home is living in Vermont, we added a Morsø wood burning stove with wood storage. With a large walk-in closet, solar-ready, generous floor space, and modern amenities, this home is truly one of our most spectacular.
URBAN PARK STUDIO - NOW AVAILABLE FOR SALE
Other premium touches include accent lighting by Cedar and Moss, under cabinet lighting, as well as over the counter lighting. The living room has an accent wall with Parisian detailing – painted a dramatic Iron Ore color. This tiny has an electric fireplace with lime wash facade, and solid wood mantel – it even includes a fold out, velvet sleeper couch for clean-ability (making this able to sleep 4 when needed). The only furniture you might still need, is a mattress upstairs, a coffee table, and stools for the small pull-out counter. If needed, we’ve tried to be prepared for a couple customizations. We are plumbed and ready for a urine diverted composting toilet, washer/drier combo, outdoor steps with landing, and other possible customizations – just ask 🙂 Our loan payments on this home are as low as $987 with 10% down, or $139,800 total (sales taxes and delivery costs will vary depending on your location).
CUSTOM CASCADE MAX WITH LOFTS
In this stunning 38′ x 10.5′ custom Cascade Max, our client really wanted an upscale aesthetic while maintaining a relatively budget-friendly approach. By utilizing the Venetian plaster technique for the kitchen backsplash, we achieved a sophisticated look at a fraction of the cost of traditional tile, without compromising on the luxurious feel.
The darker color palette throughout the home is also a newer technique for Tru Form. Customers typically go light and bright, so this was quite fun. Our client opted for a higher ceiling in the main floor bedroom, and shorter ceiling in the kiddos room / lofted area.
CUSTOM URBAN KOOTENAY
This is another stunning 28×8.5 Urban Kootenay. This unit features sleek architectural design elements like the Steel Doors, and a cedar and standing seam metal awning. This home is modern and thoughtfully designed by Malia and our brilliant client.
There is a large living room right as you walk in. Double skylights flood the Loft with natural light. The Maple staircase was designed with space for a large dog. In the kitchen are flat cabinets painted Snowbound White to offer a bright element against all the dark walls and walnut countertops, creating a contemporary yet timeless aesthetic. Equipped with a Furrion stove, stone farm sink, and retro fridge, this kitchen is as functional as it is beautiful.
Outside, there is a fold-down deck. Whether you’re seeking a weekend retreat or a full-time residence, the 28’ Urban Kootenay is sure to exceed your expectations.
