We’re always excited to share our newest builds here at Tru Form. We welcome our beautiful 2025 Urban Park Studio! This functional, modern studio is designed for those who crave a minimalist lifestyle, or are wanting to add an additional space on their property. This UPS would be perfect as a little office, too! What makes this space truly unique is how it blends contemporary architecture with highly functional design choices that maximize every square foot. Let’s take a closer look at what makes this tiny home special, and a bit of the “why” our designer chose this layout.
A Roofline Designed with Purpose
One of the first things you’ll notice about the UPS is the unique roofline. There’s a giant beam running diagonally, creating an interesting visual element that’s both modern and dramatic. This beam is over a thousand pounds, and is a huge undertaking for our skilled craftsmen. One corner of the home is purposefully lower, creating a cozy vibe without feeling cramped, and the roofline itself is a signature piece that gives the entire structure character.
Another standout feature of the Urban Park Studio is the seamless connection to the outdoors. Malia Schultheis, designer and CEO is constantly adding large doors and windows to open the space, in order to bring the outdoors in. The large doors not only enhance the feeling of space but also let in natural light, making the interior feel open and airy. Our windows are ultra efficient. Double paned, argon filled.
Convenience VS Function
In tiny home design, every square inch must be thoughtfully considered. A prime example of this is the kitchen area in our Urban Park Studio. Originally, Malia planned to include a door next to the kitchen for easy outdoor access. However, after careful consideration she opted to remove the door in favor of custom cabinetry. This decision not only maximized the available space but also improved the overall functionality and flow of the kitchen.
This decision maximizes storage space and keeps the flow of the room open and uncluttered. It’s all about finding the right balance between form and function, and in this case, the cabinetry offers both style and practicality.
The kitchen layout is designed to maximize every inch of available space. Instead of a traditional large fridge, we opted for a double drawer refrigerator, paired with a compact freezer located in the hallway. After carefully reviewing options and feedback, we selected the most reliable refrigerator model to ensure our client’s satisfaction. While it may seem unconventional to place the freezer in the hallway and the washer/dryer in the kitchen, the limited 11×18 space required thoughtful placement. By choosing trusted brands, we ensured that all appliances remain accessible without disrupting the flow of the living area.
Functional Furniture
We also made sure the furniture and fixtures we selected were both functional and stylish. The couch, for example, is from IKEA—great for its space-saving design and versatility—but its look was a little too basic for the clean, modern aesthetic we were going for. So, we added a washable cover to give it a more elevated, fresh look. It’s a simple change that makes a big difference in the overall feel of the space. Plus, the couch features a storage chaise, which is always a bonus when you’re working with limited square footage.
The fireplace is a key design feature that ties the space together. We chose a light gray lime wash to complement the kitchen cabinets and maintain an open, airy feel. Above it, TV hookups add both functionality and a cozy, homey touch without cluttering the room.
The sleeping loft, just above the living area, is a perfect retreat. With limited space for traditional stairs, we opted for a ladder with wide treads for easy access. The loft comfortably fits a queen-sized bed, offering a spacious yet cozy escape after a long day.

Small but Mighty Bathroom
Let’s discuss the bathroom. In a compact space like the Urban Park Studio, comfort and functionality go hand in hand. Despite its size, the bathroom is thoughtfully designed for maximum efficiency. A hickory vanity adds warmth and texture, while simple, no-pattern tile floors create a modern, clean look. Every detail is carefully considered to provide ample space without feeling cramped, with high-quality materials chosen for both durability and easy maintenance.
Flexibility
One of the things we love about the Urban Park Studio is how adaptable it is. The space can easily transform based on your needs. We’ve built it with a kitchen, but if cooking isn’t a priority for you, we could easily design it without one—perfect for those who want to turn it into a workout room, office, or art studio. Want to add a folding door or garage door to the space? We can do that too. It could also make an amazing guest suite or a private retreat in your backyard. For those with a smaller yard or property, this studio is small enough to fit comfortably in most backyards without overwhelming the space. We’ve even designed it with parents in mind—this is the perfect solution for anyone looking to create a private space for students living on their parents’ property or as a home office for parents working from home.
Customization and Personalization
The best part? If you love this design but want to make it your own, we’re happy to make changes. Whether you want to tweak the color scheme or adjust the layout to better suit your needs, we can work with you to personalize the Urban Park Studio to match your style. For this build, we went with Sherwin Williams Repose Gray for the cabinetry and Sherwin Williams Iron Ore for the accent wall, creating a perfect balance of light and dark that feels modern and inviting. The final result is a studio that feels cohesive, comfortable, and just the right amount of stylish.
The History of our Urban Park Studio
The first Urban Park Studio we built was custom-designed for a client with more of a country-inspired style, but we were able to make this version feel much more modern. Whether you’re drawn to the clean lines of contemporary architecture or want something a little more personal, we’re here to help you bring your vision to life. The Urban Park Studio is more than just a tiny home—it’s a flexible, functional, and stylish solution for anyone looking to simplify their living space and embrace a new way of living.
